Serving Raleigh and The Triangle Area

What Is Wheelchair Transport?

Wheelchair transport is a form of non emergency medical transportation (NEMT) specifically designed for individuals who rely on mobility devices such as manual wheelchairs, power chairs, or scooters. Unlike rideshares or standard taxis, wheelchair transport services offer:

  • ADA-compliant vehicles with lifts or ramps
  • Secure tie-down systems to keep wheelchairs safe in transit,
  • Drivers trained in mobility assistance and ADA safety protocols
  • Reliable, scheduled pick-ups and drop-offs. With Wisdom Care, wheelchair transport isn’t just about getting from one place to another. It’s about restoring independence and ensuring that every passenger feels safe, respected, and included.

Wheelchair Transport vs. Ambulatory Transport

Not sure whether you or your loved one needs Wheelchair or Ambulatory Transport? Wheelchair Transport is best for those who require ramps, lifts, or secure tie-downs for mobility devicesAmbulatory Transport is ideal for passengers who can walk on their own or with light assistance. Wait & Return Option

Some procedures require immediate, safe transportation after discharge; especially those involving anesthesia (e.g., endoscopy, colonoscopy, cataract or eye surgery). Our Wait & Return service keeps your driver on-site during the appointment, so pick-up is immediate when you’re ready to leave.

  • Ideal for: endoscopy, eye surgery, outpatient procedures, sedation-based diagnostics
  • Available for Ambulatory and Wheelchair rides
  • Scheduled round-trip; driver remains nearby and ready to add Wait & Return to your booking, let our dispatch team know when you schedule your ride, or select the option on the request form

Compliance note: This option supports clinical policies that require patients to depart with a responsible, pre-arranged ride immediately after procedures involving anesthesia.
